Stormfly an appropriate winner at Navan
With Pat Smullen sporting a black armband in respect to Mrs Weld who passed away yesterday, Stormfly carried him to a fitting success in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Navan. Sat 12th Apr
She had to battle hard to win on her previous start and was a very fit filly coming here. She just done enough last time but obviously progressed,. She handles the ground well and quickened nicely. She was always a good filly and was stakes placed last year. We'll maybe look at the French Guineas. She's tough and genuine. She idles a bit and is a lazy filly. She only does what she has to. She's the sort of filly that could suit that sort of race. She has a wonderful temperament and is really laid back. The blinkers just make her concentrate.
D K Weld
She was stakes placed and we'll let her take her chance in the Group 3 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown. She has everything to gain and nothing to lose. She's tough and genuine, and a lovely filly to train. She loves soft ground.
D K Weld
It's appropriate that she's won as my grandmother always loved a grey horse. She ran well at Cork last week. She did that well and the experience was obviously a huge help. She came home well and she'll probably get further. She's had two quick runs so we won't rush her back. She's a nice filly.
