After race at Killarney Sun, 4th Oct, 2026 (1st)  We weren't expecting this at all and had been aiming him for a hurdle race. His previous trainer Philip Rothwell said he had lost his confidence over fences, so we felt this was a perfect race to get him back, as it was only over the road from us. We bought him from a claiming race for €8,000 and the lads (Eleven Grumpy Men Syndicate) have been great supporters of mine. They are all local builders, electricians, plumbers and more. We actually won this race but lost it in the stewards' room last year. Since then, one 'grumpy lad' left and another joined, so this is brilliant. We only have five riding out and bring them to the beach a lot, so we really baby-sit them. Shane O'Callaghan is our usual jockey but was suspended and Alex gave him a fantastic ride. Tue, 15th Jul, 2025  When I got him, we dropped him in and he won two hurdles for us. We went over fences, he lost his confidence a little bit. He turned in going very well in Tipperary the last day, but from a slow pace just stayed going. We said we would make the running and try and change his mind a bit. His jumping at the top of the hill and at the last, he still wasn't brilliant, but I think that will give him a bit of confidence. He won well, but maybe an ordinary race. It is another winner, very happy. Calum is a very nice chap and a good rider. P J Rothwell

After race at Clonmel Thu, 16th May, 2024 (1st)  He’s been a super little horse, and I just couldn’t run him on real winter ground. I thought today with the rain getting into it that it might catch him out and I don’t think he jumped as confident as he could have done. I’d say they went plenty quick in front, and he ended up further back than you would like. It worked out well and Phidelma gets on well with him and her 7lb claim. I actually bought him for her to ride as a bit of fun in handicaps and then John Leckey came on board to purchase him. His Leopardstown run at Christmas was very good and then we hoped he might sneak into the two-mile handicap at Punchestown but the entries were incredible. It’s our first winner of the season. I know it’s only three weeks but it seems like a long time. Phidelma is a hard grafter and is part of a really good team I have with many senior staff. I’m very fortunate to have them and just try to man the fort. P J Rothwell

After race at Thurles Thu, 30th Nov, 2023 (1st)  I had admired that horse running during the summer and was buying him to go to England for a friend of mine but the sale didn't happen. I persevered and when I ended up buying him, brought him home and asked John Leckey (owner) to get involved with me. P J Rothwell
