Permission was given for Silent Applause (IRE) and Dazzling Haze (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Shortly after the start, the winner, Silent Applause (IRE), shifted left-handed whilst running freely, before being quickly corrected by its rider but as a consequence resulted in the colt shifting right-handed, moving Flash Rascal (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Silent Applause (IRE).
Approximately 3 furlongs out, Dazzling Haze (GB), placed second, shifted marginally right-handed, moving Black Endeavour (IRE), placed third, off its intended line at the same time as the winner, Silent Applause (IRE), which had continued to run freely, shifted left-handed, causing Black Endeavour (IRE) to become briefly hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Silent Applause (IRE) or Dazzling Haze (GB).
