I'm happy with that and it was a bit of a battle. I think I've learned from that race that he really needs a lead!. But despite that he's won and he's tough. Everyone knew he's a good three-mile horse, and he's bred that way too but I always felt that two miles was a bit short for him. He has options in novice races now though and all being well he'll go to Fairyhouse and Punchestown. Oliver McKiernan, trainer

The Stewards interviewed R.C. Colgan, rider of Lean Araig, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered his record, suspended him for four race days. . The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Max Dynamite (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal post race normal.
