He was only about 80% fit in Gowran (second on chase debut). He wasn't ready there. He cantered down to the third-last and just blew up. We knew he'd improved a lot. . Henry de Bromhead (trains Gowran winner Taponthego) said to me that he is a two-miler and he could be right. He could be just a two-mile chaser as he jumps so well. To get over a beginners chase in Ireland is a hard thing. The runner-up is rated145. . We could go travelling with him. Somewhere like Ascot, where there is a lot of jumping. We won't run him for a month anyway. I didn't want to tempt faith and make a plan before today. . We always thought he'd be better over fences and hopefully he will be. He used to jump hurdles too big. . I was actually not going to run him today because of the ground. I was going to run him in a Grade 3 at Cork on Sunday over two-and-a-half. They are probably as easy to win as a beginners chase. . We'll make a plan now after this and it's nice to have him.

He wants two and a half to three miles and I thought he’d win over two if he is as good as I think he is. He is going for the Monksfield at Navan in three weeks’ time, so we had to get a run into him and that will bring out loads of improvement. Cian (Quirke, jockey) said he had a blow, that he won very easy and he had loads of horse left. He had good runs in bumpers last year but was never really trained for bumpers, as I wanted to give him a chance to be a good horse and I didn’t want to drill him to win bumpers, he still ran very well in them. I think there will be improvement over hurdles and over fences next year, that’s the plan.

He's very nice. He's only about 80 percent fit, he was ready for a schooling bumper and we said we'd run him here today on a bit of nicer ground rather than run him around in a schooling bumper,. We think a good bit of him and think he could be a Leopardstown type of horse. There is a lot to come from that. He said he blew up turning in, we knew he'd do that but I just thought he had enough class to get him through today. We think he is a good horse and good horses will win anyway. Hopefully he keeps improving. He's a fine big stamp of a horse with a good pedigree. He's a nice horse going forward.
