Twomey and Lee double up with scintillating One Look
Sat 23rd Sep
She's a nice filly and she's been a nice filly all year. I thought I would have run her earlier but it's just the way it worked out and she was just ready to run this week. I had her in the maiden at Down Royal on Monday. I think she's a nice filly and I gave her an (Irish) Guineas entry on Wednesday. I thought she was ready to start and good enough to be competitive. The plan was to track Frankie and see how we got on.

She did exactly what we were hoping she would do. We got her out, got her some exercise and education and it has gone to plan, so I’m very happy,. We had the plan in our head that we were coming (regardless of the heavy ground), she settled and quickened and it was pretty straightforward. I don’t think I’ve trained many 1-20 shots!. That was her first piece of work for the year, so we’ll sit down and make a plan. We have a couple of more fillies to run, so we will see where we go but she is in the Irish, English, French and German Guineas. If she runs in Newmarket (English 1000 Guineas), she would go straight there, but if she runs in Ireland, she might run again. She is a lovely-actioned filly, was ready to run today and I think she’ll progress plenty.

It was great to come here and win again at the Curragh. She seems to like the Curragh and is a lovely filly. Ascot didn’t work out for her probably on ground quicker than she’d like and a trip as short as she’d want to go. She ran over nine and a half furlongs at Gowran last year and we felt on pedigree that stepping up in trip would suit her. She was brave today and didn’t have the easiest passage through but won nicely. She’s won a Group 3 with a penalty so we’re going to have to look at better races. She’s in the Nassau, she could run here in the Blandford Stakes on Champions Weekend and races on Arc weekend. We’ll have a think and pick our spots but she’s a four-year-old now and will probably run more than she has in the past.

I was hoping that she’d do something like that,. I told the lads last November that we’d aim for the Park Express. I looked for it in the calendar on the first day and it was missing! They moved it and it probably suited us. She’s a filly that didn’t blossom at the start of last year and we gave her a chance, then she did well in the Autumn. We decided when she was second in Gowran the last day not to race on at that stage with this year in mind. It’s great that the owners have been patient with me. She’s tough and I think a mile is the minimum for now. Ten furlongs will be well within her compass. She’ll have an entry in the Lanwades Stakes. She’s a Group winner now and we’ll try and go as far up the ladder as we can for the rest of the year. We’ll take our time. The ability was never in question it was just last spring she wasn’t ready to do what the world expected her to do. She’ll probably prove yet that she is that kind of filly.

I was very disappointed the day she was beaten in Galway but, to be fair, there were positives to take out of that run and she backed it up in Gowran. She got her season back on track at Gowran and I thought she was in good form today. I think she likes confusion; it was the same in Gowran and also in the Goffs Million but seems to like coming through horses and has the class to do that. It was a wet, cold spring and some of these fillies can take a bit of time. She is a nice filly, is a stakes winner now and you'd imagine going to the Denny Cordell Lavarack Stakes in Gowran next month could be next.
