Formscan By Michael Graham - BREAK MY SOUL (1) has gone well fresh before. She holds a rating of 137 courtesy of finishing third in the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival in March. She was due to line up for the Grade 2 chase at Down Royal's festival last weekend before being scratched because of the going. On her last visit to Gowran Park, she took the honours in a mares' beginners' chase on this card last year. Leave In Secret will appreciate better ground and could be lively, while Golden Joy will strip fitter for a recent run in a point-to-point. He was second in a valuable handicap chase at the Dublin Racing Festival last season and has his first track run since switching to Cian Collins.

Keith was happy with her, and it was straightforward. She was ready to start today, and I was confident she would win. Last year we were only killing time over hurdles. I wanted to go for a chase straight away and luckily enough Keith talked sense into me and said to keep her for this season. She got black type here in the Red Mills (Hurdle, finishing second) and I’d say she just didn’t stay the 2m4f at Aintree. We’ll look at those graded mares’ races and won’t be afraid to go against the geldings as well. We’ll try and stay to two miles and she’s definitely the best one we’ve ever had.

He's a huge horse. I'm not sure where he goes now, the race at Thurles (Grade 3 Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase) would be an option and is probably more than likely where he'll go. He took some pearlers of falls last season and 'Puppy' (Robbie Power) did a great job with him, he went up to his for a while. The girls in the yard also did a lot of ground work at home with him. It's an unbelievable family and there are still two young ones running around. It was hard to work out Mullins' horses today as they ran so bad the last day. I thought if they mightn't be on song we might have a squeak. I know we had a bit to find on ratings but a graded race is a graded race and it was a nice pot.

He’s a magical horse. Things just didn’t go his way in Punchestown (last time) and he was very unlucky he didn’t win the Mayo National,. He got a fall in Galway and lost his way a little bit after it. That’s seven races he’s won now, he’s a phenomenal horse. He’s a well-bred horse and a good strong horse. The Dan Moore (January 10th) back here will probably be his next run. On soft ground he’s better over two miles.

That was lovely. We had actually planned to go chasing with him. We were looking for one of those 110 or less beginners but there were none coming up for a while. He was in good form, I love running horses when they are in good form, and I said to the lads we’d go and try and win another hurdle in the meantime. Hopefully, it won’t put him out of them (beginners' chases) but we’re delighted. He gets two-and-a-half (miles), but a good strong pace at two (miles) definitely suits well as well. He was dropping back in class as well which made a big difference. I thought the Bellewstown race the last day was probably a bit too much anyway, a bit above him. He wants good ground and I was happy the rain didn’t come that they were giving originally. As long as he stays in good form, and the ground is reasonable, we’ll keep running.

I thought we had Courtney's horse (Is Charlie Around) well stuffed at the second-last, and Dan said he hadn't moved on him. He said he thought he'd have won anyway. He stays and I'd say he needs three miles, and every yard of it. We nearly lost him in Listowel (in September 2024) and he was on three legs for six months afterwards. He is back to himself now, though, and will go for a Listed chase at Gowran next month, in which he finished second in 2024. He'll take beating in that race as he loves the heavy ground, but he also goes on good ground. He is a huge horse. His dam is a half-sister to Commanche Court and I love those Kalanisis.
