That was his only previous flat run and his overall form, including a debut bumper win when beating a subsequent Galway Plate winner, suggests he can win win races at this trip on the flat. Elusive Ivy refused to load in this same race last year, when an 11/4 chance, but did run well enough in a similar race in July and is likely to have been targeted at this race, with Jamie Codd a positive booking. She too is a solid and consistent jumps performer but may find the selection too strong. Lucky Pat could also play a part but a big negative is his 17 draw. He is another good jumps campaigner on a sound surface and has in the past shown solid form at around two miles and also ran well in two 2014 flat maidens at shorter trips. Fugi Mountain was a smart performer in 2015 but now makes his reappearance following a long layoff. He hails from the top jumps yard but it would still prove an enormous achievement were he to win on his comeback run. Powersbomb is 3lbs better off with Elusive Ivy than when the pair met here in a chase last season and is another to consider despite making his flat debut while Constancio isn’t straightforward and is certainly best watched. Social Treasure, by Galileo, needs to show far more than on debut at Punchestown.
