The last day at Cork, with a first-time tongue-strap on, Dawn Trouper was backed from 9/2 into 3/1. In that extended mile contest on October 3rd, the Dawn Approach gelding tracked the leaders, and he was fifth at the halfway stage. Pushed along early in the straight, Dawn Trouper was ridden and had no extra to give from over a furlong out, keeping on at the one pace inside the final furlong to end up five and three parts of a length off winner, Snowflakes, in fifth position. The tongue-strap is retained and the Bolger runner may do better now sprinting on the polytrack. There are several others in here capable of making an impression too.
