However, the hope is that his confidence won't be dented, because he travelled powerfully through that Limerick event, until coming to grief four out, and he came there on the back of an emphatic Wexford victory. To my eye at least, the drop back to two miles one, around a track like Ballinrobe, could suit Davy Fitzgerald's gelding well. Take your pick as to what's the biggest threat to the selection, but the early betting suggests it could be It's All An Act, and looking at his form that seems about right. Two likeable older types, Fosters Cross (a course winner) and Akinspirit are never ones to discount too easily, whilst Rocky Wednesday (a course winner) would be dangerous on his best.

An extended handicap steeplechase for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each such steeplechase won. Any horse rated above 123 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 123 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four or five year old rated above 123 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
