The son of Captain Rio was a decent sort winning five times for Paul Cole, and had a career high rating of 109 less than two years ago. His form has obviously tailed off quite alarmingly but on closer examination there are some positives. He ran well here off a mark of 84 over six furlongs last August, and quite a few runs since have been over sprint trips. He didn’t enjoy the clearest of passages when beaten about a length over a mile at Dundalk last time. Johnny Levins also saddles the consistent Bainne, while Rose Anjou is drawn low like the selection and ran well over this course and distance behind Feeling Easy last autumn. Mountain Fox was racing on turf for the first time when runner-up to Not A Bad Oul Day at Gowran Park. The pair drew 11 lengths clear of the remainder but as a result he’s gone up 10lb in the ratings.
