FormscanBy Gary Carson - Winning a classic with your first runner would be some way to announce your arrival in the training ranks and FORT KNOX looks to have a great chance to give Johnny Murtagh a fairytale start to this stage of his career. He really made an impression when scoring at Leopardstown last month and it was no surprise that he attracted plenty of interest afterwards with Sheikh Mohammed moving to secure the Dubawi colt. The way he quickened up was impressive and although the bare form doesn't read much he was head and shoulders above his rivals then and looks open to plenty more improvement. Jockey bookings suggest that Magician is the pick of the Ballydoyle runners and he commands obvious respect. He won well at Chester and the drop back in trip here shouldn't be a worry as it's a tight track over there so speed is of the essence. Those in behind then wouldn't be any stars though and he probably needs to step up again here. Undoubtedly Van Der Neer has the best form in the book and kept on nicely when third behind Dawn Approach in the English Guineas. Newmarket form is often the best guide coming into this and he has to be a major player. Trading Leather drops back in trip after finishing a fine second in the Dante and this better ground should suit. He looks to have place prospects. It's hard to know what to make of the French Guineas as they all finished in a bunch. Gale Force Ten and Havana Gold (fourth and fifth) represent that form but may find this stiffer opposition now.
