FormscanBy Michael Graham - DAMUT is very hard to oppose after his cracking effort in a Grade A handicap chase over two miles five at this track in January. Sean Flanagan got a great tune out of him as he finished well for fourth at 20/1 behind A Toi Phil. He was only beaten by two and a half lengths in that 18-runner contest. Davy Russell does the steering today and has won on him before. The nine-year-old gelding has found it hard to get his head in front with his last win coming in November 2015, however, he has been keeping good company and looks primed to deliver now. The Gatechecker blotted his copybook with a bad mistake at the last in Gowran but he was still able to keep on for second. He drew seven and a half lengths clear of the third horse and can be competitive today. Michael Hourigan's charge has hit a bit of form in 2017 with that Gowran effort following on from a victory in an extended two mile three handicap chase at Naas. Afterwards in Naas, Hourigan said he wanted further so this extended two miles five should be right up his street. Dallas Cowboy is lurking at the bottom of the weights and is likely to be popular after a pair of placed efforts here in December and January. This is a step up in class though.
