FormscanBy Michael Graham - Gordon Elliott's COUNT SIMON jumped big and bold when winning over hurdles at Down Royal and looks tailor-made for the bigger obstacles on chasing debut. His stablemate, Ravenhill, was beaten into third and came out and won a beginners' chase at Limerick by nine lengths on his debut over fences, which bodes well for Count Simon's chances. Count Simon couldn't be arriving in any better form having won his last two outings over hurdles. There was money for Cenotice on his chasing debut at Ballinrobe last month (25/1 to 16/1) and he took credit from a third place behind odds-on-favourite Wicklow Brave and Cliff House. He was six lengths clear of the horse in fourth and the former point-to-point winner is a threat. Hurdle-winner Minella Times starts out over fences and is sure to know his job. His one run in a point-to-point at Belclare in April 2017 saw him a couple of lengths clear before he fell at the last. That race between the flags has thrown up plenty of winners including First Assignment (who took advantage of Minella Times falling) at Listed level over hurdles.
