FormscanBy Gary Carson - Not an easy race to work out in recent years and this looks another wide open affair. WISE OLD OWL might be worth a shot He got himself out the back after a bad mistake early on in the Galway Plate but still looked in with a shout before the second last as he moved closer. Sloppy jumps over the last two ended his chances. He was a very progressive novice winning here that season before going on the next summer to run a cracker when second in the Galway Plate. He has suffered a couple of long absences since but hinted that the ability is still there last time and having been dropped another 4lb for that run he looks to be getting to a nice mark now. Alderwood was an early casualty in the Plate but at this best he's a classy performer. He has to give weight away all around here but it looks significant that Tony McCoy has gone for him and he has to be respected. Jackonslady also carries the JP McManus colours and comes into this off the back of a battling Galway win. With another 2lb for that victory though there may be better handicapped. The other McManus runner Quantitiveeasing looks like he needs to recapture his best to figure. Burn And Turn ran well to chase home easy winner Road To Riches in the Plate and off just a 3lb higher mark she is entitled to another big run here. Irish National runner-up Golden Wonder was well punted to score over hurdles at Kilbeggan last time. He wasn't able to peg back Desertmore Stream then but it was a good run and should have left him spot on for this. Sixth in the Galway Plate this extra test of stamina may suit better. It looked a nice opportunity at Killarney for Klepht over timber and he may find this tougher off this mark back over fences. Usuel Smurfer ran a cracker at Galway when just going down to Aranhill Chief. This is more competitive but he looks progressive and is sure to be well fancied while Pass The Hat was a good winner at Killarney and is another to consider in an intriguing race.
