FormscanBy Michael Graham - RETOUR EN FRANCE was no match for stablemate Airlie Beach in a mares' hurdle at Galway but can go one better today. That was her first Irish start and she was beaten five and a half lengths into second, after making no impression on the winner before the last flight. There was no disgrace in that as the unbeaten Airlie Beach is being aimed at the Grade Three mares' novice hurdle in Down Royal. After that Ballybrit race, Willie Mullins said that Retour En France would improve an awful lot having been off-track for two years and that she is a big chaser. She has winning form on heavy ground in France. Water Sprite has been mixing the flat and hurdling to good effect. She will handle the ground and is interesting on her first crack at the bigger obstacles. Presenting Mahler had a go at fences in Listowel and ran a decent race to be second to the progressive Westerner Lady albeit beaten seven lengths. If she shows improvement she could be a threat.
