FormscanBy Tom Weekes - ATHENEAN makes his hurdles debut here and might prove good enough to win. His lack of a previous hurdles outing is an obvious concern but he showed enough when winning over CD here (albeit the form is unproven as yet) recently to suggest he should win plenty races. Paloma Blue has also shown useful bumper form and while he has a previous hurdles outing to his name, at Naas recently, he didn't jump well then. His jumping is likely to improve wih experience but he could prove vulnerable to smart performers. Spades Are Trumps ran a lovely race on debut at Wexford last month and could also be a serious contender today. That form was boosted by the winner winning at Grade 3 level subsequently and Spades Are Trumps appears the type who should win plenty races, with Barry Geraghty is a positive booking. The market will guide. Chess Grand Master has shown useful ability and has hurdles experience but is vulnerable to smart performers while Mount Pelier cost E160,000 as a 3yo at the Derby Sale and is a half-brother to a bumper/hurdles winner.
