CAPTAIN CONFLICT ended a frustrating sequence of placings - runner-up on his previous three starts - by scoring in fine style.

The Willie Mullins-trained gelding was always travelling well and sent on over half a mile, with SHINAN THYNE the only one who could go with him as they went downhill approaching the straight. The latter looked a brief threat over two furlongs out but the issue was soon settled as the well-backed evens favourite drew clear when asked to go about his business.

There was a yawning gap back to the remainder on ground that was well chewed up after the days action. PLAYBOY LUKE, close to the pace throughout, could only keep on one paced after the front two had flown, while ATOM HILL ACE, held by the winner on his previous outing at this track, was beaten further this time as he struggled on the ground inside the final half mile.
