The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Kilcruit, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
G. Brouder, rider of Foxy Jacks, trained by M.F.Morris, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lost his action at the third last fence and was pulled up

Quirke, Upping The Anti, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, Born By The Sea, ridden by P.T. Enright. All riders were afforded the opportunity to give evidence. J.R. Banahan, IHRB Starter, stated that the riders were one and a half furlongs away with one minute to go. They were coming nice and quietly when Visionarian peeled away at the back and disengaged. He informed the other riders while girth checking took place behind. They were too hurried and rushed and there was no opportunity to put the flag up. B.S. Hughes stated that he was two lengths behind the horses on his inner but did his best to stop his horse proceeding into a canter. D.F. O'Regan stated that the buckle on his girth became undone which meant he had to peel away. This led to a rushed approach and they got a bit quicker as everyone turned around. His mount got very upset. Rachael Blackmore stated that she was on the rail trying to obey the Starter but that all the horses are lit up and that other riders' horses are throwing their heads in the air. She further stated that the start of this race is difficult every year. B. Hayes stated that with 22 runners in a line it makes the start difficult. C.P. McNamara stated that no one is trying to get going and that everyone was trying to take a pull. Mr. P.W. Mullins stated that this happens in this race every year
Having viewed a recording of the false start and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found no breach of rule had taken place and took no further action.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards that have run at least three times in steeplechases up to and including 23rd July 2023 Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase or steeplechases after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
