she was lucky to keep out of trouble and was on the inside but moved out and missed the trouble. She's a very very tough mare and jumps well. She won on the Flat last week and made hard work of it but that's the way she is. I saw this race about a month ago and this looked tailor-made but it's still difficult and you need a bit of luck. She got a great ride and for a 0-123 (handicap), the prize-money is fantastic and you just don't get that in England.

I.m delighted with that and she's improving all the time. It was a relief after she missed the last and I thought the other horse (Sea Light) was going to get up on her outside. She's tough, kept pulling it out and has guts and a great heart. I have her in the good handicap on Saturday; she was a few pounds out of the handicap but that will bring her in with a penalty. If she's fit and sound she'll run. She could be a nice one for the winter as she handles soft ground and after Saturday I might take my time with her as she's still a novice. Jer's Girl came back in yesterday so we are looking forward to the winter.

Martin keeps good Company with Carberry

Nina was all the help he needed there and it was a good performance and definitely the jockey was a big help. He has run over hurdles and took a while to come. As you can see from his antics (in the winners enclosure) he's still very nervy and leery - he’s still not there in his head yet. We'll get him home and see where he goes in a fortnight. He could go back over hurdles.

Lord Scoundrel wins Galway Plate

it's great when it works out and I’ve had lots of placed horses but I didn't have a winner at Galway for five years until last night. This has been the plan since we let him off last year; he had some good novice form and thankfully it's worked out. He was one of the three we fancied and it worked out great. It's Donagh's first ride for me and he gave him a good ride. He works for Tony Martin so he's obviously a good rider. I said to him, if he was within a couple of lengths of them two out he'd stay better than any of mine. We've had placed horse before in the Hurdle but to win this is nice. Winning races like this keeps us up there in the trainers championship; unfortunately I'm up against Willie Mullins but we might keep tabs on him for a little longer now!. It's unfortunate for Bryan (Cooper, Gigginstown’s first jockey) as we said if he didn't ride Road To Riches (pulled up) he'd ride this horse. Jack (Kennedy) had the choice but he had to go for Clarcam as he's a bit classier.

Classic winners on the mark at Galway

she's after coming to hand this year more than any other year. She was just raw and backward and we gave her a chance. She had a little break (following her latest run in June) and we had her in the water walker and left the saddle off her. She freshened up and strengthened up again. The ultimate would be to get some black-type with her before she retires at the end of the season but that might be tough. I have her in a Listed race at Baden Baden in a few weeks time.

Tony The Gent wins for Lyons/Keane

he did it well and with plenty of guts. I walked the track beforehand with Colin and the lads were saying it was a gluepot because of the used ground. There was one strip of ground that was virgin ground and fair play to Colin, he's a great tactician and used his head. The last day he ran around and was green but that stood to him and when he hit the hill today, he put his head down and battled. That's only his fourth run and he's improving with every run. We'll see what the handicapper does and take it from there. That was a stiff mile and he got it very well but he also has plenty of speed for seven. Sean (Jones, owner) got a great kick out of having a winner at Galway and we're delighted for him as he's a great supporter.

Jockey Foley doubles up in finale

it's always nice to get a winner at Galway and he’s a nice horse. It's hard for a four-year-old to carry that weight on that tacky ground and Shane gave him a good ride and produced him to win. He runs in my mother Margie's colours and it's nice for my father who has had a lot of treatment this year and it means a lot to get a Galway winner. In Fairyhouse he was a bit green and came on plenty in his home work. We'll see what the handicapper does now.
