He’s in great form. My son Danny rides him out every day at home and he actually rang Michael Kenneally from his hospital bed as he got a bad fall in a point-to-point on Sunday. He broke ribs and punctured a lung and broke his ankle. He gave Michael his instructions and it was nice to win for him. He takes a bit of a pull and he settled away there in front today. He actually maybe settled a bit better today, he was a bit fresh the last day. Danny has a lot of jumping done with him over fences, and he’s quite good. He was actually going to ride him in a chase at Cork, but got another fall schooling. He went to Clonmel after he didn’t run in that chase.

I walked the track beforehand and thought the inside was the best place to go as it was deeper the more you went wide. He had been running on better ground at the end of last season, but the softer ground suits him better. He was always a very, very good work horse but, when he puts it together he is good, although he is only sport at this stage. He had a couple of very good runs, won at Tramore, and possibly with some luck he could have won a bumper. He had been a small bit inconsistent, but hopefully if we can keep him the way he is, he might pick up another one. He has age but is lightly raced and he'll stay going for another while.

He just puts his tongue over the bit and that's why we put the tongue strap on him today. He will have to learn to settle better I suppose. He wasn't beaten far in a bumper at Listowel last year and with a bit of luck on our side he might have won that day. My own son Danny was riding him and he had a fresh bit of ground picked out for him up the straight, but when he went for it, the rest of the horses in front came out and went for the same strip of ground. He ended up clipping heels and had to be pulled back and go around them. He settled that day and while he didn't settle great today, his ability just got him through. Reading through the form for this race I thought he had the form to win it. I thought the tongue-strap might help settle him, but he still took a fair pull today. Sean has ridden winners for me before and once you get any of the O'Keeffe's you're laughing, Darragh or Sean. They have both ridden winners for me. We will just try to get ask much as we can out of him over hurdles this year. I think he might develop into a nice chaser next year as he is over 17 hands. My father Joe bred him and owns him as well.
