I don't know what happened him the last day. We were going to send him to the sales but he ran so bad he didn't go. I'm putting it down to the ground. I put the tongue strap on today even though I don't think there is a lot wrong with his wind. He just runs with his mouth open. He likes this ground and he probably wants to be jumping. He is a three mile chaser and is still for sale. He won his point-to-point well. He was just all wrong last year. A few of my horses ran bad the week when he disappointed at Roscommon. I'm hoping that he'll be fine going forward. He'll win more races. He is owned by Michael Regan from Roscommon, and everything he has had with me has won, so we are keeping that record up. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Be My Dan, ridden by J.J. Slevin, and trained by David M.O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.J. Slevin, stated that his instructions were to drop in, take his time and ride his mount to get the trip. He said his mount is a difficult ride and was very unbalanced through out, was checked in running and did not act on the ground. He said his mount stayed on in the closing stages past tired horses

David M.O'Brien, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He said his charge has shown plenty of ability at home and in the past when winning a bumper, but confirmed that he can be a difficult ride and was unsure how he would handle the trip

The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Be My Dan was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations of both the trainer and rider in relation to the running and riding of Be My Dan, but were of the opinion that J.J. Slevin was in breach of Rule 213 in that he had failed to report at the first instance, something which may have affected the running of his mount in a race. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards cautioned J. J. Slevin

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Be My Dan, trained by David M.O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

A hurdle race for five yrs old and upwards, maidens at starting
Weights - 11st 12lb; Mares allowed 7lb
Allowances - Horses that have not won a *race allowed 8lb
