That's great for the owners, especially Jim Coffey of SoftCo who sponsors the yard. He loves coming down here on New Year's Day. He has been a very, very frustrating horse. He was an expensive horse after winning a point-to-point for Colin Bowe. Since the day we bought him he has had tendon injuries, wind issues, cuts, everything you could think of. I'm just glad for the lads today that he won what looked a very moderate contest. The favourite (Reach Up) falling probably helped him as well. There was no plan for him other than today. Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase 4lb extra; Of two steeplechases 7lb extra; Note 1 Horses which, at entry, have not run in two or more steeplechases and/or do not have a published steeplechase rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their steeplechase rating is 109 or less. Note 2 Horses which, at entry, have not run in three or more hurdle races and/or do not have a published hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their hurdle rating is 109 or less. However hurdle ratings and performances will only be considered after steeplechase ratings and performances.
