Cromwell eyes Punchestown with Inothewayurthinkin Inothewayurthinkin will take aim at the Punchestown Gold Cup after returning to something like his best to take third place when fighting to defend his Cheltenham title. The eight-year-old was the reigning Gold Cup champion having taken the race by six lengths last season, but his preparation prior to this year’s renewal had been far from ideal with a heavy fall in the Irish Gold Cup coming after well beaten runs in the John Durkan and the Savills Chase. He looked resigned to a similar fate when off the bridle for much of the race at Cheltenham, but to his credit he rallied up the hill and ran on to finish third. Battling Back Up the Hill “It was a very frustrating run, really, he never travelled or jumped very well early on,” said trainer Gavin Cromwell. “He did then come home well, to be fair to him, so we’ll take the positives and look forwards to his next run. “He’s very well, he’s come out of Cheltenham absolutely fine. “He’s back in work and doing well, we’re aiming him towards Punchestown with him now.”
