Alkasser sprints to impressive success
Alkasser was soundly beaten when well-backed on debut over a mile at the Curragh last month but those who kept faith were rewarded as a drop in trip and better ground proved just the trick in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. Sat 19th Apr
That's fantastic for her owners Jason and Leeann Scott. Jason spends six months of the year working in Russia, where he is at the moment, to feed his family,. She did it well and loved the ground. She will go to the Sales at the end of the year, and will make a lovely big broodmare for somebody. We will probably try her in a Group 3 before then and see what happens. From her high draw I just told Billy to drop her out and settle her, and try to pick them off one by one and see what happens. Billy is very kind, especially on fillies, and asks them instead of telling them. That's important to me as it means they improve from race to race.

I was delighted to see the rain yesterday. She did everything lovely,. The front 2 pulled well away and I thought the bottom was the danger as she looked well in. I thought she might be too big a filly for Galway but the way she fought on there the hill might suit her. She's a lot tougher this year. She was a big frame of a filly last year and is after filling out.
W McCreery
the little bit of juice helped her and so did the extra furlong. She's a big honest filly but I didn't know after the last day whether to give her a few months out in a field and let her grow into herself and now I wouldn't be pushed to turn her out quickly again. She had the experience coming here and the leader (Miss Spelt) led her nicely and everything fell into place.
W McCreery
