Vault makes gutsy winning debut
The Aidan O'Brien-trained Vault made a successful debut under Colm O'Donoghue in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. Fri 03rd Jun
He did it very well. His first two runs were over six furlongs and the further he went the better he was going today. I'm thrilled with him. He might get supplemented for the National Stakes now but I'll have to talk to the owners. He wants it yielding though and if it was good to firm he wouldn't run. He is also in the Beresford Stakes. I supplemented him for this (for €9,500), I put my money where my mouth is and I'm delighted he won.

It's great to get that done. Fran said he did it well. He said the other horse [Ellell Duke] was hanging out on him and intimidating him a bit. I'm delighted as it's the first winner for the owner [Tan Kai Chah] who is Singapore based. He was put in touch with me by Jim Ryan who broke the horse and pre-trained him. We'll sit down and have a look at what's coming up. He'll definitely get seven furlongs. We were thinking beforehand that he would need seven furlongs. He seemed to go on that ground.
