Togoville is proving a terrific standard-bearer for the Georgios Pakidis yard and the grey notched his second victory of the winter in the Floodlit Friday Nights Rated Race at DundalkFri 09th Jan
I fancied him tonight because the ground was to his liking, as along as the rain didn't get into it too much,. He's a horse of a lifetime really, he's won a lot of races. That's his 15th win now. He's in again at Navan next Tuesday so he can run in that now. He takes nothing to get fit and he's the soundest horse I've ever had, touch wood. He's a dream. His owner is our next door neighbour and he's a great owner. He's not even in that long. We gave him a bit of a break after the all-weather, he was a bit sick of it. The grass lit him up a bit and got him going again. He's in great nick.
Garvan Donnelly
he's knows the place well as he's down here quite often. We thought six furlongs might just stretch him but had the advantage of knowing the beach so well. We said we'd let him bowl along today, he knows the place well, he's a legend of a horse and that's 14 times he's won now. Everything is so easy for him, no matter what you do with him he takes it in his stride. It's great for the lads who are great owners. There is a race in Dundalk for him in two weeks time. We usually give him a break when he peters out a bit. Those races aren't hard on him, six furlongs sure I'd do that myself!
Garvan Donnelly
He was dropping back in grade I suppose but he's a very genuine horse. He gives everything and is easy going. Whatever happened in the stalls wouldn't faze him. It's great to get a win back on the board with him. He won at Ayr last year so we'll probably send him back over there for a nice pot. We'll campaign him in and around that and also look at Bellewstown which is a local track for the lads. That's 13 he's won now and he's won 10 for us. He's been great, he's such an easy horse to train and I wish we had a few more like him.
Garvan Donnelly
It's nice to get a local winner. I thought it might play into his hands with Abstraction going fast and he'd come home well,. He ran in the Curragh on Saturday and didn't disgrace himself in the Rockingham. He seemed to be fine all week so we let him take his chance. The lads are all local and it was a good pot. He's only getting the hang of sprinting now, it's takes a horse a while to get going. He pays his way and he's had a great season all year. We brought him to Ayr a couple of weeks ago because I thought the track would suit him and it was another good pot over there. He won there and as long as he keeps picking up money it makes my job easier. If he got a little bit of luck in one of the premier handicaps he might have his day in one of them but if he can pick up these ones here along the way it's happy days.
Garvan Donnelly
That was great. As I said the last day we've always thought he was a very speedy horse,. Once they go fast for him he'll come home well and he got a good ride there. We knew the pace was on the inside and if we went forward enough on him he'd grind it out and that's what he did. There was a good pot tonight and it's nice to get. I have to say a big thank you to all the local lads around my area for helping us during the snow. We were in big trouble as the roads and everything were blocked. All the neighbours came up and gave us a hand to clear off the gallop and stuff. Luckily enough we were able to keep them going. I was worried but John (Duffy) has a big farm up beside us and we were able to get a bit of cantering into them. I thought he might be a bit short but he was alright as he keeps himself very fit.
Garvan Donnelly
It was a change of luck as we've been hitting the crossbar a good bit,. Donagh said the time before to drop him back to five. He has plenty of boot, we always thought he had plenty of boot. Sometimes when you change it around with the older horses it makes a bit of a difference and gives them a fresh lease of life. He did well to come from where he came from and Donagh gave him a great ride. He hasn't had a break, and generally he's a better horse on the grass, so we'll be aiming for that as well but we might sneak something else here first.
Garvan Donnelly
It was tight but I thought we had just sneaked it - we’ve come out the wrong side a few times lately so I was just a bit worried,. He’s a good tough hardy horse, has been running solidly all year and loves fast ground. He has just been a bit keen early in his races and burning himself out. We put the hood on to see if it would relax him and they went good and hard which suits him. The handicapper has given him a bit of a chance so we’ll keep going. He’s easy trained and keeps himself fit.
Garvan Donnelly
he's been running solid races but has been hitting the crossbar all year and it's nice to get one, especially here. We'll look at the Festival meetings like Killarney and Listowel and I think the tighter tracks suit him - I was worried about that today. He's very game and genuine and and Killian's (Leonard) 7lbs claim made all the difference.
Garvan Donnelly
He was in good form but had a hard enough race at Galway but was freshened up well today. He likes fast ground and the track and trip suited - ideally he's a seven furlong to a mile horse. He's in at the Curragh on Saturday and we'll see how he comes out of this.
Garvan Donnelly
you need to leave it as late as possible as he doesn't do a lot in front but he is very genuine. He needs a fast run seven furlongs and while drawn 14, I didn't mind as he got cover. He's in Galway on the Wednesday over a mile and probably will run under a penalty.
Garvan Donnelly
we found every bit of trouble but he was good and got me out of it in the end!
Garvan Donnelly
