Formscan By Michael Graham - Thecompanysergeant and FARREN GLORY are closely matched from Ballinrobe last month when the former beat the latter by a neck in second and third respectively. The latter, who holds a higher rating, is taken to get his revenge with the forecast rain very much to his liking. Farren Glory's sole previous visit to Clonmel saw him win his maiden hurdle by almost 10 lengths. That Ballinrobe result was a welcome return to form for Thecompanysergeant who could build upon it. King Of Kingsfield has been extensively chasing for more than a year. He has plenty of talent and this is effectively a drop in class for him. If Encanto Bruno can rediscover his best form, he would be a threat.

He's a good horse, he did (come with a good price tag) and was very highly recommended by Warren Ewing. Anything he is doing now is only a bonus - when he matures and goes jumping, he should be another nice one. They are so young, it is very hard to know what to do with them. Do you keep them for another good bumper in the spring or do you go hurdling in September/October time? I'm not sure what we will do with him. We kept Encanto Bruno and Kinbara all this time for bumpers and it hasn't worked out too bad. We will talk to Derek and Caroline (Ahearn, owners) who are both over from America. I'm delighted for them, they put the money into the game so they deserve these days. He wants slower ground - Warren says soft ground, soft ground. That's a big bonus.

Jack said his best was from the last to the line. He didn't get pulled up until down below and its job done. We probably would have preferred a bit more competition. They didn't go quick, and he was looking around him. He said it was actually slippy and he slipped a bit and then was a bit careful. I'd imagine, with horses not getting out, he'll head straight on to the Drinmore now. In fairness he was better on that ground - Wexford was horrible ground.

Jack said he’s relaxing a lot more. He was very keen as a young horse, and Jack said he thought he might have won snugly if he hadn’t nodded at the back of the second-last. I think it was a good enough performance. As soon as the ground goes (soft) you won’t see him until the spring. He’s three races won now (over fences) so we can’t complain. He had to do the donkey work (for Brighterdaysahead) last season and it wasn’t really fair on him.

He’s a horse with any amount of ability. He’s had a few problems, but we seem to have ironed them out now and hopefully he can keep going. We’ve changed the tactics with him and he’s more relaxed. Denis is the man for that job and gets on very well with him. It’s hard to watch but you have to let him at it. Denis said they flew which probably suited him and he was able to stay on. He has loads of pace and stays the two miles very well. I’d say we’ll go for the Galway Hurdle now. That’s my biggest win and I’m from Kerry so it’s great to get it here.
