Formscan - One of the big Anglo-Irish clashes of the week, with the exciting Lulamba taking on last year's Supreme hero Kopek Des Bordes. The former arrives unbeaten in three starts over fences and has followed the same route Nicky Henderson plotted with Sprinter Sacre (2012) and Altior (2017) by landing the Game Spirit against seasoned chasers en route. However, the five-year-old can take time to warm to his task and there has to be a concern that he might be taken off his feet early doors. Kopek Des Bordes tries to become just the third horse this century to land an Arkle on the back of one outing over fences, having missed key prep runs after impressing at Navan in November. Recent schooling sessions seem to have left his camp very confident he is ready to face a test of this nature, but it wouldn't be a surprise if stable companion KARGESE came out on top. Runner-up in the 2024 Triumph to Majborough, the mare was a comfortable winner of the County Hurdle 12 months ago and all of her best form has come in the spring. She did remarkably well to battle back after a mistake at the last against Romeo Coolio in the Irish Arkle, going down by a neck, and that experience may give her a vital edge.

He figured things out for himself. Very pleased with that. He has to learn and get experience, and he got a fair bit today, I think. When he sees a fence, he just wants to go and jump it. He's very keen in that respect. As he goes up in grade, the pace will get faster and hotter. I think it will be all to his benefit. He has enough schooling done. This fellow was a bumper horse compared to a point-to-pointer which Final Demand was. He (Final Demand) would have done a lot more schooling in his younger days, whereas this fellow has been schooling mainly over hurdles and a bit over fences.

Paul(Townend on Poniros) joined me on my inside which I wasn't too worried about and he's stayed all the way from turning in. He wouldn't be the quickest horse in the world but he's got a high cruising speed and he's probably be one for a bit further next year. He's well able for this trip at the minute. He jumping was good all the way around. I got in underneath three out a little bit but I dropped the revs on him a little bit there. I got to the front but I didn't want to be doing too much from there to turning in. He was just filling himself there and he's kicked off the bend. These are big days, it’s been a big week and a great week for the Donnelly family. Two winners like that is pretty special. We tried to get in the way yesterday, it was a bitter pill, but well done them. Now we’ve done it together. This is a fantastic place, we love it. This is a proper horse for another day. He deserves it as much as everybody. I wouldn’t say he was unlucky not to win in Cheltenham, he couldn’t do anything about it at the time and we got a bit of revenge there. He’s a lovely horse for the future, you wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t come back over fences next year. I don’t know, it’s early days and it’s only the fourth race of his life. He’s a big baby to be doing juvenile hurdles against Flat horses so fair credit to him.
