An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out involving ANEEDAHABEER (IRE), placed third, ridden by Kyle McHugh, and Looks Likely (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joe Leavy.

Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, McHugh was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.

McHugh was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he angled his mount right-handed into an insufficient gap without being fully clear of Looks Likely (GB), carrying that filly notably off her intended line and causing it to become unbalanced.

An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out involving Queenies Pal (GB), unplaced, ridden by Ashley Lewis, Thanh Nam (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Paddy Bradley, Looks Likely (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joe Leavy, and Cocktail Lounge (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Kyle Strydom.

Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, Lewis was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.

The interference was found to be accidental in that initially Looks Likely (GB) had hung right- handed going into the bend presenting a run to its inside, which both Strydom and Bradley had attempted to improve into simultaneously, before Leavy then shifted slightly left-handed when correcting Looks Likely (GB) from hanging at the same time as Queenies Pal (GB) was moved right-handed to avoid the heels of a weakening MARTHA’S SHADOW (IRE) unplaced, and as a result Cocktail Lounge (IRE) had to be severely checked by Strydom and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of Looks Likely (GB), which was badly hampered, whilst Thanh Nam (GB) was also impeded when tightened up for racing room.

An enquiry was held to consider interference turning into the home straight involving the winner, Calypso Breeze (GB), ridden by Kieran O’Neill, and Athenian Spirit (IRE), placed second, ridden by Luke Morris.

O’Neill was cautioned for careless riding as he switched his mount right-handed when improving his position, carrying Athenian Spirit (IRE) off its intended line as a consequence.

Just inside the final furlong, the winner, Calypso Breeze (GB), shifted right-handed away from the whip before being corrected by its rider, carrying Athenian Spirit (IRE), placed second, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Calypso Breeze (GB).

The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Calypso Breeze (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.

Denis Quinn was interviewed.

His comments that Calypso Breeze (GB) was making its handicap debut in a less competitive contest than its qualifying runs and that the filly had recently received extensive veterinary treatment for issues related to tying up were noted and the matter was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority so that they could be reviewed in conjunction with the previous performances of the filly.

Calypso Breeze (GB) was routine tested.

Following the race, Darragh Keenan reported that Woody Y Fernandez (GB), unplaced, was fractious in the stalls and missed the break, George Bass reported that Miss Ayala (IRE), placed fifth, hung right- handed, Paddy Bradley reported that Thanh Nam (GB), which started favourite and finished fourth, was slowly away, outpaced throughout and suffered interference on the bend, and Dale Swift reported that MARTHA’S SHADOW (IRE), unplaced, hung badly right-handed.
