Permission was given for Newyorkstateofmind (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
Quercus, trained by Ann Duffield, did not enter the parade ring and went straight to post, due to being delayed, as the gelding was examined by the Veterinary Officer, having arrived in the pre-parade ring with a small amount of blood in its mouth.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Inside the final furlong, Newyorkstateofmind (GB), placed third, hung right-handed at the same time as Quercus (IRE), placed second, edged slightly left-handed, resulting in Newyorkstateofmind (GB) shifting right-handed to avoid its heels, which caused the rider of Arlington (GB), unplaced, to take a precautionary check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and that it had not improved the placing of Newyorkstateofmind (GB) or Quercus (IRE).
Following the race, Rhys Elliott reported that Calafrio (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run for some distance from approaching two furlongs out until inside the final furlong.
The representative of Craig Lidster reported that Caesars Pearl (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, officially described as Good to Firm, although which in their opinion appeared to be riding particularly quick on this occasion, was noted.
