The only thing I can think of is going up in trip. He ran over two-and-a-half at Sligo one day where he made a bad mistake and should have won. He works like a good horse at home and we always knew he kept a bit for himself on the Flat. His jumping was letting him down earlier on his career as well. He got a few terrible falls and I'd say he lost his confidence as well. We ran him in a few claimers and put him in for E8,000 and we just said if he goes, he goes. I kept telling the lads to get rid of him. He hadn't won since March of 2023 and I just told them to get something else. I knew he had ability and I said to bring him somewhere else either, to see would that work. Thank God neither of those options came to pass!. He is a lovely horse at home and any kid could ride him. He is just a pure rogue. He is handicapped over fences and can go back to Dundalk for those two-mile races as well. He won very easy today so maybe he will go to the next grade over hurdles. There is loads of options for him.

He had been disappointing since we got him but has turned the corner now. He had been jumping really well at home but wasn't taking it to the track and had falls which affected his confidence. He has back to himself now and while we wouldn't normally run them back so quick, he came home well from Wexford so we took our chance. We were running him over two miles over hurdles all along and we didn't think he needed further, but it looks like we were running him over the wrong trip. He is handicapped over fences so has plenty options now.

It’s been a long time coming with that fella over jumps. He’s a bit of a rogue. When he turns up he’s grand but he minds himself. He’s won two on the Flat for us as well. At home his jumping is brilliant, but he got a few falls and used to step at one now and again. I think he’s handicapped over fences as well, so he’ll probably mix it and can run over two miles at Dundalk as well.

He's getting to like it (trip) now alright, it took us a long time to find it!. You think he is plenty fast enough for a mile and two at home, but this trip and the track seems to have made the difference. Fair play to the owners for persevering because if he had headed off somewhere, I wouldn't have held it against them. He has turned the corner now and he seems to love it here. He'll go back hurdling as well on good ground. We have a few options with him. He's a summer horse I'd say. He's having plenty of breaks between runs. We never let a horse pass him up the hill, we are only finding out about him now. He's sweet as a nut at the minute. If you work him at home and the other horse takes him on, he will sulk.

we bought him out of Ralph Beckett's and this has been a long time coming as he has been very disappointing. The race just ran to suit him and everything worked out really well. He definitely wants good ground and I'd like to see a fence in front of him during the summer. He had two unlucky falls which he didn't deserve as he is a brilliant jumper. We'll go back hurdling and think about chasing for the summer. We'll keep him at two miles here but it is hard to get these races. Mark (Enright) is very good and is a very talented rider.
