FormscanBy Alan Magee - ALCATRAZ may not have classic pretentions in 2015 but he filled the runner-up spot in a backend Leopardstown maiden behind a colt that certainly does having played second fiddle to Giovanni Canaletto. The latter is just one of a powerful team Aidan O’Brien is lining up for next year’s Investec Derby and, while the form of that 16-runner maiden hasn’t been tested too often since, the Johnny Levins-trained colt should play a leading part here. Park Rebel hasn’t been seen since third to Vert De Grece on debut at Leopardstown over four months ago. The form of that maiden has generally been working out well, with the winner going on to land the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud in impressive fashion. Mayakoba is an interesting newcomer and a rare runner in these colours for Pat Flynn. She was led out unsold for 145,000 guineas at Tattersalls as a yearling, and her lightly-raced dam Cherokee won the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes on debut for Ballydoyle.
