FormscanBy Alan Magee - BLUE HELL shaped well on his belated seasonal reappearance over course and distance and, with the benefit of that outing, looks sure to go close. The French import has performed consistently in a light handicap campaign since joining Tony Mullins, and only weakened in the closing stages when fifth to Sort It Out in a competitive event following a nine-month break. To Choose and Kylestyle were both close-up behind the selection last time, and the former could be considered a bit unlucky as he was denied a clear run before the straight. Princely Conn is open to improvement with just three hurdle runs under his belt. He followed up a Punchestown maiden win with placed efforts in Graded company including when third to Nichols Canyon in the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse last time. The dual purpose Cassells Rock, just denied in a Premier Handicap here on Irish Champions Weekend, is probably still on a reasonable mark and the market should provide the best clue to his readiness.
An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (140 = 11st 10lb)Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 140 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 140 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four or five year old rated above 140 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
