FormscanBy Tom Weekes - CAPE CITY BOY looked potentially smart when winning at Down Royal recently and despite now shouldering a 7lbs penalty, might be able to confirm form with The West's Awake. There was plenty to like about the manner in which the selection galloped to the line then. The West's Awake was heavily supported to win on debut but raced quite keenly and didn't find as much in the closing stages. He is now tried in a hood but has plenty ground to make up on the winner then. Tajseer ran with plenty credit in a winners' bumper at Ayr recently and should figure prominently here, now that he steps back to his own age group. It is interesting connections of Madfuninthewest have opted for a bumper start here and he was in the process of running a good race when falling over hurdles at Gowran. He looks to have plenty ability and can figure. Charbel, from a flat family (his dam is by Sadler's Wells), looks a notable newcomer along while Braize, Coeur Joyeux and Pastunwali (under Katie Walsh) are others which can figure on debut.
