FormscanBy Tom Weekes - THE STORYTELLER has twice been unlucky in Down Royal maiden hurdles but might be able to make it third time lucky over hurdles here. He made two crucial and late mistakes when making a good debut at Down Royal last season and was in strong contention when falling at the second last there recently, in what looked a useful contest. He clearly needs to avoid mistakes today but this 2m6f trip is likely to suit and he appears to have plenty ability. Turcagua was useful in his bumper days and while he missed 2015, bounced back in good health in two good bumpers at the end of last season. He steps up in trip for this and also looks the type to win plenty races. Monalee was himself useful in bumpers and finished ahead of Monbeg Notorious, winner of the selection’s race at Down Royal latest. He also has winning point to point form and looks another with solid claims. Coeur Joyeux steps up in trip for this and while useful, is vulnerable to smarter types. Call The Taxie has also shown ability but might also need to improve while Showem Silver is possibly best watched on seasonal reappearance. Vinalhaven represents Gigginstown but is surely best watched on his first start since winning a point to point in 2014 and a tongue-tie is also applied.
