Formscan By Gary Carson - ASTELIA (3) sets the standard here and may be able to make the breakthrough in an ordinary enough contest. The Peter Fahey-trained mare was well-beaten on the Flat at Listowel last time but has been runner-up eight times over timber from 10 attempts, including on her penultimate outing at Kilbeggan. This looks like a nice opportunity to gain an overdue win. Masterstown Miss, second on her debut, hasn’t really progressed but it was a solid enough effort when fourth at Ballinrobe last time and she could be a danger. The Willie Mullins-trained Katie Can’t Count doesn’t look any star but wasn’t beaten far when sixth at Downpatrick and is open to improvement.

She’s after coming on leaps and bounds and I’m thrilled with it. I’m delighted for Padraig Clancy; he’s a good patron of mine and he hasn’t had it easy recently. I was down below and didn’t really see it. When she came past me, we had no hope. To hear she’d won it was actually twice as good.
