Formscan By Alan Magee - CULLENWAINE (6) won twice for Philip Rothwell and after a couple of placed efforts, got off the mark for local trainer David O’Sullivan over course and distance in July. The selection again showed his liking for this venue when beating all bar favourite Ladies Well the following month. Nolans Rocco won over a similar trip at Limerick earlier this year and should benefit from his reappearance outing at Galway. Barryroe Madam stays well over hurdles and could play a part if putting in a decent round of jumping on her chase debut, while Kilkee Bay and True Harmony are others to consider.

He’s a grand horse. He came from Gordon’s a while back and he’s been disappointing a couple of times. Joey said they went a real good gallop and I’d say it played to a late closer. Joey gave him a brilliant ride. They went a bit quick and I’d say conditions just fell right for him, more than anything else. There weren’t too many horses in the race gave themselves chances of winning. I wouldn’t go over-reacting but it was lovely to get it. He has been a disappointing horse, his work is okay at home. Hopefully he might get a bit of confidence and build on that now.

It wasn’t before time that he got going, he won his maiden hurdle first time,. He had a good run in a bumper here as well, when he was second to one of Willie Mullins’ (Caman Eileen). I don’t know if he’ll run again tomorrow, we’ll see. It might be a bit soon. He’s a grand horse for the summer. He’s a smasher. It took us so long to get him right, he got a fall schooling after he won his maiden hurdle. There was lots of chiropracty. Mark Slevin did a great job, we fired his palate and tidied him up as best we could. He looks progressive now, even though he’s an eight-year-old. If we pulled him out tomorrow he could win again!. He’s way better over fences, he’s tricky over hurdles but he’s putting it together now.
