Naas Sun, 25th Jan, 2026  Rusheen we’re delighted with him and we won this race last year with Answer To Kayf and, the year before, James Dullea (Rusheen's previous trainer) won it. James is involved with this horse and we got him from James so it’s a bit of a coincidence. All our horses were wrong over Christmas and this fella scoped wrong a few times and didn’t get to run so we’re were a bit disappointed. He did a couple of nice pieces of work a fortnight ago and was due to run in Thurles but gave himself an over-reach so we just had to take it easy for a few days to let him recover. We came here today really not knowing. I said to the lads that he was working well but I had never got him away and I wasn’t really sure. He’s a big horse, ground conditions suited and he jumped great. Phillip gave him a super ride. We got him in the autumn and I wasn’t really sure what to make of him but his work after Christmas definitely improved. He was on an ideal weight, bottom weight, on heavy ground. We’ll see what the handicapper does and keep him to these conditions. That was his first run in 10 months so you’d be hoping he’d improve a little bit.

He needs three miles, obviously. He was a small bit leery, he thought about it for a few strides. I suppose he’ll mix it between hurdles and fences, he’s a good fun horse. He’s a bit quirky, even though he wants soft ground he might travel a bit nicer on that better ground.

Cork Sat, 3rd Jan, 2026  Way Down South He won his maiden hurdle this time last year and we thought he’d progress from that, but he went backwards. . He just enjoys fences. He ran poorly in Limerick, and it was a gamble bringing him back so fast, but the cheekpieces helped, tongue-tie helped, the ground helped and dropping him back two furlongs helped. . He jumped well. Dan knows him and it does take a jockey to know him. I’m delighted and some of the owners (WDS Syndicate) are here as well.

Clonmel Tue, 2nd Dec, 2025  Great Island He had his ground as the day he previously won in Gowran, it was almost unraceable. He had a good run back following a break the last day and just improved a little bit from it,. We were confident enough coming here although these (William Hill Series) races are becoming very competitive as trainers are targeting them for the points. . We'll look at Limerick over Christmas next, as he loves heavy ground. If we got traditional Christmas ground, it would be right into his barrow.

He had some good form, he was second a few times but you can’t beat age. That’s his game anyway, he jumped great for his first time out. I’ll play it by ear now. The three-milers are hard to find and he’ll have to prove himself to be a graded horse before we think of that.
