By Tom Weekes - MOUNT FRISCO has been running consistently well and will be suited by reverting back up in distance. While drying ground conditions isn’t ideal, the selection’s recent form is good and having beaten the subsequent Cheltenham fifth-placed Beckett Rock to win at Gowran in February, scored over hurdles and finished a useful third subsequently. He has a light weight and is dependable. Veteran Krabat has also been running well and loves testing conditions while Miss Pronunciation hasn’t won for two years but ran well enough at Punchestown last month.
By Gary Carson - MICKEY THE STEEL may be able to strike after a solid run on his comeback at the Curragh. The eight-year-old was third to Smoke Them Out over this trip and remains on the same mark. He may be able to turn the tables now on Tai Tam Bay, who was runner-up a week ago. That mare only lost out by a neck then and has to be a leading contender now. She went up 2lb for that effort and doesn’t have a claimer on board this time. English import Mc Loven is an interesting contender for Sean Davis. The Harry Angel gelding was a three-time winner in England, including on soft ground, and looks to have slipped to a nice mark.%0A%0A
By Gary Carson - CAUSEWAY got a good mention from Aidan O’Brien at his press day last week and he could prove a class act on his handicap debut. The Wootton Bassett colt won his maiden in good style on his second outing last season, at the Curragh. He’s expected to progress well and O’Brien even mentioned him in the same breath as Paddington. Breaking Dawn already has a win under his belt this season, winning his maiden at the Curragh last week. He should appreciate going back up in trip and looks on a nice mark. Son Of Beauty is fit from the all-weather and won his maiden in fine style last time. He’s another for the shortlist.
By Gary Carson - SHAOOL was highly impressive towards the end of last season and may be able to pick up where she left off. The Belardo filly ran out an impressive winner in Listed company at Leopardstown last October and rose 35lb in the ratings after graduating from handicaps. Soft ground looks a big plus for her. Beset was another filly that improved last season, also ending with a Listed success at the Curragh. That came over further but a bit of stamina won’t do any harm in these conditions. Irish Lincoln winner Ribee looks worth a short at this level after his cosy success at the Curragh last week and it will be interesting to see how he measures up.
