Mattice (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 30 May 2025, where the gelding finished eighth of ten beaten 15¼ lengths.
Ian McInnes explained that the gelding may have appreciated the Good to Soft, Soft in places ground on this occasion.
McInnes added that although Mattice (GB) has previously won on Good to Firm ground, he felt that at his age, the gelding now appreciates more give in the ground.
His explanation was noted and Mattice (GB) was routine tested.
