He loves that ground. He had two runs earlier in the year and we thought he was coming to himself, but the ground was good on those days. Since Galway, we’ve been waiting for a bit of soft ground for him - the softer it is the better. When I was coming down the road, and could see the floods the whole way, I was thinking we could be in business here today. Martin (Sheridan, owner) has been a big supporter of the yard and it’s great for him to have a horse like this. He’s getting a bit older and I was thinking ‘does he still have it?’. It’s great to see him bounce back there. He’s been a good servant. He won a big handicap in Haydock last year and the year before he won a premier handicap in Cork. Soft ground is the key to him. We’ll see what the handicapper does and try and find something similar. It’s his time of the year now and hopefully he can go in again.

He's a different horse altogether, you can ride a race on him and he relaxes. When the gap opened he rallied well and just got there, it was ideal. He only won so hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him. The way he is relaxing now you'd think he'd get a mile. We'll look for something similar again.

We left the blinkers off him and that was the difference. He was racing too keenly.

He's been knocking on the door all year but just never got that real heavy ground, that's the key to him,. Five furlongs is probably a bit sharp for him but when he gets heavy ground it brings him into play. I'm delighted, Martin (Sheridan) is a great supporter and has great patience. He won it last year and we were confident coming here today. It worked out and the rain came for him. That's probably it as Dundalk's not really for him. He's been to Galway, Listowel, he's done them all. He's a great little horse.

It was a nice little contest to find for him and to win two with him isn’t too bad. He normally likes to make the running but there was loads of pace so he couldn’t. He pulled up a bit in front but it was a funny race and he was out on his own. There was a fair wind as well. He’s in again on Thursday over five furlongs at Navan so we’ll see how he is in the morning. I think he’ll handle Dundalk as well.
