Declan rode her here on Tuesday night and said if he had got out he'd nearly have won. It was a cracking run and I was glad to see the rain come today as that's the ground that she wants. She won on heavy ground here over seven furlongs two years ago so we weren't worried about the ground. She pricked (her ears) and was idling a bit so that's a good sign, Declan reckon she was holding a bit. We'll maybe look at Listowel now and Declan said to try and keep her to that ground.

Delighted!. I suppose the ground was an 'if', he was a fair drifter (in the market) now. We were very happy with him at home, I'd say when horses go on good to firm they don't always go on heavy. It is not (a negative for progeny of his sire) and in the spring, when we were working him with the jumpers on real soft ground, we were never going to be worried about it. I had that bit of confidence anyway. He's still learning, he's still a big, green lad - a big unit. Hopefully (plenty more in him), Ben loves him anyway and he's learning on his job. He's still very, very green, so I'm expecting him to improve.

The handicapper reassessed everything recently and gave her a chance by dropping her 2lb and letting her into this low-grade event. Her run in Galway was a bit of a disappointment but she broke badly, was racing on the outside and was racing away from horses. She hanging left and was ducking away from them. We thought she was a nice filly going to Leopardstown (third on debut) and I think she still is a nice filly. . I only got her two weeks before her run in the Curragh and it was her owner's (Pat Rohan, from Killaloe) plan to run in the Curragh. I didn't know much about her but she is genuine and lovely to train. Six furlongs at the Curragh was a probably a little short but seven (furlongs) is ideal. Thank God we found a winnable race and maybe Galway will be on the horizon now.

He loves that ground. He had two runs earlier in the year and we thought he was coming to himself, but the ground was good on those days. Since Galway, we’ve been waiting for a bit of soft ground for him - the softer it is the better. When I was coming down the road, and could see the floods the whole way, I was thinking we could be in business here today. Martin (Sheridan, owner) has been a big supporter of the yard and it’s great for him to have a horse like this. He’s getting a bit older and I was thinking ‘does he still have it?’. It’s great to see him bounce back there. He’s been a good servant. He won a big handicap in Haydock last year and the year before he won a premier handicap in Cork. Soft ground is the key to him. We’ll see what the handicapper does and try and find something similar. It’s his time of the year now and hopefully he can go in again.

This means so much to us as we lost one of the members of the syndicate, Liam Gavin, and his removal is today. We said we’d go ahead and run the horse and it’s just amazing that he’s done that. It’s very emotional. Fair play to the horse and Rory was excellent on him. He did exactly what we asked him to do. There was one of these in him. It's lovely when you have one that's set up for it,. . I told the owner two months ago that I thought he was a Galway horse. He just scraped in at the bottom of the weights. There is a big long hill up there and you need to be able to stay and have the heart for it. . We put cheekpieces on him today, just to liven him up. At Fairyhouse the last day, he kind of half went to sleep and didn't know what he was doing. . The hardest part is to keep it rolling (good run of form). The wheels could come off the bus very easily. . We seem to have a nice team of horses and we have great staff. We don't have many new owners, lads have been with me for years. I wouldn't mind if someone came with a cheque book!
