Heavily backed Missy Tata wins well
Heavily backed 1/1 favourite Missy Tata made an impressive winning Irish debut at Down Royal today, landing the opening Value Cabs 3-Y-O Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Bryan Cooper. Sat 31st Oct
We had a bit of luck on our side. Denis Hogan’s horse fell at the second last and Davy couldn’t say he would have won. What he did say was that she had a couple of blows and will come on a lot from the run. She’s a mare to look forward to if we can keep her in one piece. We’ll try to find some black type for her over fences, and there is a mares’ novice chase (Grade 2 Dawn Run) at Limerick on March 17th that she could go for. We’ve had her entered a few times but couldn’t run because of the ground, and that’s the first time we’ve had a little ease for her.
Gordon Elliott
she is a good mare and I don’t think two miles is her ideal trip so we decided ride her nice and positive. Her Gold Cup is going to be the 2m4f Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham - she is improving the whole time but I doubt we’ll see the real article until she goes jumping fences. She is straightforward and stays going well and will have one more run or will go straight to Cheltenham. She is one to look forward to.
Gordon Elliott
She’s not a bad mare. We were thinking about going jumping fences with her but I‘d say she could win plenty of prize money if we kept her over hurdles. Keith gave her a good ride, and that’s good for him, so I’m happy for him. Keith rode his first Graded winner last week and that’s his second in a week now.
Gordon Elliott
She just hacked around and will come on a good bit for the run. She will go chasing now. I was planning on running her yesterday (at Fairyhouse) but the ground was a bit quick. She jumps well, and we'll find a mares beginners chase for her when there is a little ease in the ground.
Gordon Elliott
she's a lovely big filly, I'd say she'll come on a bit and I'd say she is smart. There's a Listed mares' race at Aintree in December that we might look at but she wouldn't want the ground any better than that. She did it very easily.
Gordon Elliott
