A 10-race maiden going into the contest, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding seemed to appreciate the demands of this unique track as he stayed on best to open his account. Despite being raised 4lb for that maiden hurdle win, the six-year-old remains fairly treated reverting to handicap company. Facile Ocean had been in good form prior to finishing fourth at Kilbeggan and, on the balance of his previous form, the Ciaran Murphy-trained gelding shouldn't be far away. A three-time winner on the Flat, Papagei shaped with promise at Navan over flights and could be open to further improvement.

It was a dramatic start, but he was in a lovely position. Turning for home, Jack obviously picked off the horse (Baila Conmigo) that was leading him up the hill. We knew he would stay really well. He had a bit of time off, but he has built on every run so far this season and it is lovely to see him do that because he deserved it. He had a handicap mark (105), but it was nice to go back and try and win a maiden with him because we were confident he was capable of doing that.
