Formscan By Gary Carson - KALA CONTI (3) might be worth siding with here, getting a nice chunk of weight from Koktail Divin. The mare started last season with two impressive wins before a good run to finish runner-up in Grade 1 company at Sandown. She looked to be creeping into contention when falling at Aintree on her final start and is sure to be primed for this. Grade 1 winner Koktail Divin has to carry a 10lb penalty for his success at Aintree but is obviously very smart and should make a bold bid despite his weight. Jacob’s Ladder, a Grade 3 winner over fences last season, looks the other main contender and it’s interesting that Jack Kennedy takes the mount on him.

Quotes on Koktail Divin (FR)
He was really good and we’re delighted with that. He jumped brilliant, Darragh was brilliant on him and he picked up really well. He’s had three runs so we’ll see what want to do now. Obviously the lads would love to go to Cheltenham so I’d imagine we’ll go there, and then it’s a matter of whether we’d have a run in between. The Dublin Racing Festival is a big meeting as well so we’ll see what everyone wants to do.

Quotes on Jacob's Ladder (IRE)
Jacob’s Ladder was stepping into a graded race and he has now won a lot of prize money (adding today’s €21,000). He was very gutsy and is going the right way over fences. He picked up and galloped, so we are very happy. He did get through the ground, although Jack said he struggled on it. He won't go to Cheltenham, we might look at Fairyhouse or Aintree all being well.

Quotes on Kala Conti (FR)
She isn’t the biggest in the world but has a great attitude and had her ears pricked after two fences today. It looked like she wanted to stop with her ears pricked going down the back straight so Paul (Townend, on Kargese) went on which suited us grand, as it made for a good test of stamina. I ran her in a Grade One last season which knocked the edge off her at the end of the season, but she has black type now so it is great. We’ll go home and look at the book, but she deserves a little break now having had two quick runs. It is a long way to go before assessing possible Cheltenham options and a lot of water has to pass under the bridge before then.

Quotes on Mic Drop (IRE)
He is a horse that is improving. My horses were sick all the winter. I always liked this horse. He won his point-to-point, he won his bumper, then he lost his way.

Quotes on Break My Soul (IRE)
Keith was happy with her, and it was straightforward. She was ready to start today, and I was confident she would win. Last year we were only killing time over hurdles. I wanted to go for a chase straight away and luckily enough Keith talked sense into me and said to keep her for this season. She got black type here in the Red Mills (Hurdle, finishing second) and I’d say she just didn’t stay the 2m4f at Aintree. We’ll look at those graded mares’ races and won’t be afraid to go against the geldings as well. We’ll try and stay to two miles and she’s definitely the best one we’ve ever had.
