Formscan By Gary Carson - DROP A THREAT (10) is interesting on his first outing for Gordon Elliott. The Triple Threat gelding had a big reputation coming from point-to-points but was largely disappointing for Willie Mullins. He did show a bit more over fences though and ran well at Galway when chasing home Jukebox Johnny. There looks to be a race in him off this kind of mark. Antrim Coast won despite being a bit wayward at Fairyhouse three weeks ago. He has the ability to go well here but needs to be straighter in this company. Ladies Well comes here in good form and is respected but is creeping up the handicap.

It has been painful! Going from his bumper wins and the way he works at home, it has been a calamity. He is a work-in-progress regarding his jumping. He has been very slow to learn and Ger Fox schooled him at the weekend and Ger couldn't believe how he hadn't got the hang of it. When he left him alone at a hurdle, he still needs a lot of help. It is a mental thing with him and hopefully he is switched on now. I told Alex to be very definite with what he wanted him to do at each hurdle - either to go short or to go long. we were a bit disappointed the last day, when she was a bit slowly away and missed the first fence, although were delighted to see trainer Val O’Brien winning the race. She did that well today, has to have good ground and to be ridden like that. She’s a brilliant jumper. The boys (Mrs Crogh's Syndicate, which includes former Tipperary hurler Lar Corbett) would like a day out so we might go to one of those meetings in Cheltenham off a light weight. Down Royal gets good ground and could be an option, but the boys like Cheltenham!
