Formscan By Tom Weekes - DA CAPO GLORY is a four-time winner who stays this distance well and has recent form. Ground-versatile and a previous course winner, the selection wasn’t beaten far over hurdles at Cheltenham in March and chased home a capable type at Killarney last month. He can put his experience to good use under a 7lb claimer. Chase debutante Fillyoureye is similarly ridden by a 7lb claimer and stays well while Kainsbourg also debuts over fences and was Grade 2-placed over hurdles last October. Another chasing debutante Quantum Quest was well held at Aintree in April but stays well and has point-to-pointing experience. Vicar Street hasn’t run since last July and makes his chase debut.

It is his first run for five months and Darragh knows him very well having won a bumper and maiden hurdle on him. We couldn't look past him with his 7lb claim on that ground, which is worth its weight in gold. This horse was my first winner, he is still flying the flag and is a mighty horse. He isn't big, but is very well-bred and jumps hurdles very well. He pulled up in the Galway Hurdle when they went a million (speed) and we were behind and beaten after the first hurdle. He didn't really get a race though, but the thing about him is he can hit flat spots in his races. . He ran well when finishing fourth in the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran last year and that is an option again. It is mighty for the five-member syndicate (Red Strand Syndicate) and there are a lot of happy people here, although two are at home with Covid, another is in Copenhagen and he couldn't make it. They are west Cork people and we had our initial syndicate meeting in the Red Strand (in Cork).

He needs a bit of nicer ground and needs a trip. Looking at him today I think he needs a fence too, but I’ll wait until the new season comes in. We’ll find a nice hurdle race between now and the end of Punchestown (festival). Possibly something in Fairyhouse for him. He didn’t enjoy Mallow. He didn’t take Paul along at all, so we took the hood off him today and I think it made a big difference. He was always very free, but he’s changed now. He’s more mature and is settling in his races, so it makes him easier to ride. It probably wasn’t the highest standard of race either. He’s improving and maybe the ones around him aren’t. I was happy to get that and I think his future might lie over fences.

That was grand. He doesn't do anything flashy at home but he has a good attitude and you'd like the way he went there,. I'd imagine he'll come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival but to be honest I'd say he's more of a Fred Winter horse than a Grade 1 horse. He'll need another run to qualify so he'll probably end up coming back for that and that will tell us where to go. We have one or two nice ones at home to run. We're a bit short this year but have a nice horse that came from France, he could probably end up coming here for the Grade 1.
