I'd say we met a smart one in Galway. We had hoped to win a bumper but I'd say we just ran into one. Today, with the little bit of hurdling experience that she had had earlier in the spring, she jumped nicely and won nicely. I'm delighted to get a win with her. We'll try a handicap hurdle with her and I'll have a word with Danny, we might go on for a chase depending what rating she'll get. We might go for a beginners chase. At the moment, she's not jumping smart enough to win a handicap hurdle. That could be on the agenda if Danny agrees.

she’s a lovely mare and I had the race mapped out from last week. She needed to have a run in Cork to qualify and while I know it’s the wrong thing to do running them six days later, she licked her pot on Sunday night and I freshened her up. I’m in Stradbally, Co. Waterford so use the beach every day. She was rolling and bucking so I said I’d declare her and see. Today’s race was perfect and she qualifies for the Weatherbys bonus, so this is a fair pot. We only have her 10 months, she’s a classy kind of a mare and when she came out of the ring unsold at the Derby Sale, we followed her down and bought her. I’d have 12 to 15 horses in the whole time, four or five pre-trainers and a couple for the track. A nice few owners have come back to me recently, I have the licence since last year and I’m only getting going. Dylan is my cousin, he’s back from England where he rode a few winners.

We thought a lot of her and her work at home has been very good. We were a little bit worried coming here about inexperience as we just had one school in her,. We were a little bit worried about the ground as well and Alex said she only got through it and wouldn't want it any tackier. She is a winter filly though. I think all she'll do is improve, she's a big filly but only a frame. She should hopefully improve a good bit from this. I would have been disappointed if we hadn't been placed in it, I was worried about Willie's as it's hard to beat his in a bumper. We're delighted to see her doing that as she's far from the finished article. I think she's nice. She has a lot of filling out to do and we won't be hard on her. We'll probably give her a run in a winners bumper and then let her off after that. I'd be more thinking of next season with her, she'll be a lovely filly for next autumn and winter when we get her over hurdles.
