Formscan - With dual winner Lossiemouth successfully diverted to the Champion Hurdle, and fellow top mares Brighterdaysahead and Golden Ace also fighting out Tuesday's showpiece, the way has apparently been paved clear for WODHOOH to register her first Grade 1 success. Victory in last year's Martin Pipe took her unbeaten record over timber to seven and after then chasing home Lossiemouth at Aintree, she proved too classy at Ascot before beating Feet Of A Dancer and Dream On Baby at Leopardstown. Gordon Elliott's mare appears bombproof, although Jade De Grugy did claim the silver medal 12 months ago and, after spending this campaign over fences, attempts to give Willie Mullins a remarkable 12th win in the race. Take No Chances also made the frame in 2025 and could do so again.

She’s a good mare and I’m delighted for Cathy (Byrne, owner). (Her husband) Phil is looking down on us. He was a great fella and you can see how much this means to Cathy. Phil was with us from the very start and unfortunately he died suddenly last year. It was a horrendous blow for Cathy and the family. He was a brilliant musician himself and called this mare after a song. He owned Sean’s Bar in Athlone. She was a bit unlucky in the Pertemps at Cheltenham last March but she has large black type now which is brilliant.

She stays well but at least I was able to pull the trigger then from the front end when I wanted to. She jumped great, she's a dinger. She has plenty of size about her too if you wanted to jump a fence she'll have no bother. She’s a mare that’s been improving all year. Nicer ground was a big help and tactically Paul was brilliant. Brighterdaysahead probably just had a very hard race at Christmas and she never really recovered from it. We’re delighted to be able to win a Grade 1 with a filly like this. I’d say we’ll probably train her for the Mares’ Hurdle next year.

She’s been declared twice and I couldn’t run her because of the ground. She did it nicely and Shane said she was always in control. We are going to run her in the Lismullen Hurdle and then either the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot or Leopardstown at Christmas. We can look at the Flat with her next year but I wouldn’t be running her on good to firm ground.

She doesn’t do anything fancy at home. She’s very laid back but she knows how to win,. I think we went for the right race. We were toying with going for the two-mile race (December Hurdle) and it could have been a bit sharp around there for her today. It turned into a bit of a sprint and she nearly got caught napping for a couple of strides, but she picked up and galloped.
